A practical, intersectional guide to somatic therapy, helping readers integrate body and mind, from licensed therapist and mental health influencer Simone Saunders

We’ve all heard the phrase “feel your feelings” but no one ever tells you how – until now. Whether it’s due to trauma, conditioning from societal structures, hardship or a cocktail of all three, we are disconnected from our bodies. Traditional talk therapy has equipped us with the language and intellectual understanding of our stories, but too often that powerful insight remains locked in our minds and we find ourselves stuck—aware of the problem, but unable to create tangible change in our actual lives. The answer lies in crossing the threshold from mind to body, in moving from intellectual comprehension to holistic, fully embodied understanding.

Registered social worker and trauma therapist, Simone Saunders leads readers on a gentle, compassionate path to reconnecting with their bodies and coming home to themselves. Readers will discover how our bodies and our minds work together, how our society and culture affects our reactions, and most importantly, how to finally change for the better.

In Befriending the Body you’ll learn to connect with your history, identity, and curiosity and ultimately befriend your body by understanding how your emotions are reflected physically, trusting yourself, and weaving community support into your life.
